The week of hit and miss

1
Hello dear followers - This week has been crazy... I am so sorry I haven't updated in almost a whole week! I've been doing well and have had a couple of cheat days over the past week... school parties, etc. I've still been eating well though and not eating past six, except on Cheat Day. I will have a full week update tomorrow =)

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 24 - 3 Week Update!

2
Breakdown for today:
Breakfast -
String cheese - 50 calories

Lunch -
1/2 Panera Tuna sandwich - 375 calories
8 0z. Panera Garden Vegetable Soup - 110 calories
Bag of chips - 160 calories

Dinner -
Protein Bar - 170 Calories
Handful of organic chips and salsa - about 250 calories

Total calories - 1,115 calories - Most I've eaten the whole three weeks!

Anyway - the general update is not as good as the other two... I'm at 139 lbs. which means I only lost 1.5 lbs this week. However, that is still very good and most importantly, healthy! :) I am still feeling so energized and good, sleeping so well... it's amazing! I am definitely being able to tell when I look in the mirror I have lost 11 lbs. My pants feel so much better and I am wearing some of the things I couldn't before!

Here is the picture update...

Honestly I can't think of a more unflattering angle haha... It's lower than me and it's bad, but hey - you get the general idea! :)

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 23

0
Back to updating! Today I decided to try to beef up my caloric intake a little because I've had a headache for the past two days and I think it's because I haven't been eating enough. I've also been exercising the past two days, so I'm feeling good! Tomorrow is the weekly weigh in and picture update =) I'm excited!!

Today's breakdown:

Skipped breakfast

Lunch -
Moe's Joey Jr. with chicken, rice, black beans, lettuce, and tomatoes - 338 calories
2 Servings of R.W. Garcia Mixt Bag Yellow and White Corn Chips - 280 calories
4 Tablespoons of Muir Glen Organic Medium Salsa - 20 calories

Dessert - 7.5 oz cup of frozen yogurt - 187.5

Skipped Dinner because the lunch filled me to the brim!

Total calories for the day = 825.5 calories

Sometimes I just really crave chips and salsa, so I'm going to fulfill my craving, but in a healthier way with the organic and natural items instead of the greasy, oily and hydrogenated products.

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Days 19-22

0
I've been a slacker again! This weekend was crazy - I attended a two day event for the University I am transferring to in the fall and I had a ton going on and just was too lazy to make an update. I have decided to switch my weekly updates to Wednesday, which would be every 9 days instead of every 7. So - look for an update on Wednesday! My food intake has been about the same as I've been doing the past two weeks... Cheat Day was Friday and we went to Olive Garden and had pasta - yum yum yum!! Today's update will be posted later tonight, but I wanted to give everyone an update of what's been going on! :)

Dinner -
1 serving of Annie's White Cheddar Bunnies - 150 calories
1/2 Special K Strawberry Protein Bar - 85 calories

Total calories for Thursday = 835 calories

Tomorrow is cheat day for the week, so stay tuned! :)

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 17

0
Hello Hello! Today has gone marvelously! Two big tests over with and I am so, so happy! The weekend is almost here - Date night is right around the corner and my boyfriend and I are going to what we call "old faithful", aka Olive Garden! We like to try new restaurants a lot, but sometimes it's nice to go somewhere where you know exactly what you want. Here is my breakdown for today:

Breakfast -
1/2 cup of Kashi Cereal + 1/2 Cup of Skim Milk = 110 calories

Lunch -
Chicken sandwich with mustard = 140 calories
1 Serving of Annie's White Cheddar bunnies - 150 calories

Dinner -
Special K Chocolate and Peanut Butter Protein Bar - 170 calories

Drinks -
Unsweetened Tea with Splenda
Water

Total calories for Wednesday - 530 calories... Too few! I got some new snacks to eat on during the day so I'll incorporate those tomorrow =)

Crest 3D White Whitestrips Advanced Vivid 14 Day Treatment

0
Whitening our teeth... it's something a lot of us have probably done at some time or another in our beauty-filled lives. When was your first time? Mine was right after I got my braces off when I was 17 years old... I went out and bought myself some Crest Whitestrips and they did an amazing job! I've used them on and off for the past 8 years and I wanted to do another round of treatment this spring. However, I never did look forward to the goopy, sloppy strips and the way they liked to float around on my teeth and I would inevitably swallow some of the gel. Can't be good, right? Well, I went to my local drugstore to pick up a new box and low and behold - they have improved their product! Not just the regular Whitestrips or the Premium, but overhauled the whole line. They now offer FIVE whitening treatments instead of two.

1. Stain Shield - The Stain Shield treatment is a once a day, 5 minute, 4 week supply. It basically is a touch up and to help prevent things such as coffee, tea, etc. from staining your already white teeth. It's like a facelift for your smile :)

2. Gentle Routine - These are also for 5 minutes a day and contain 28 treatments. These strips are intended for those that are sensitive to the more aggressive ingredients in the regular Whitestrips. The whitening in these strips is more subtle and gradual.

3. Vivid - This would be the equivalent to the original Crest Whitestrips. They are used once a day for 30 minutes and this box contains 10 whitening treatments. The price of the vivid runs around $30-35 dollars.

4. Advanced Vivid - This is the box that I picked up. I guess it's the midrange model. It runs about $45 dollars. These also contain the Advanced Seal. What does that mean? No more slippery, goopy, sliding mess! These strips actually stick to your teeth, have a smooth outer surface, and DO NOT budge at all! It's great! They are to be used once a day for 14 days.

5. Professional Effects - They say this is the same as a $500 whitening treatment. I did not get that box, so I don't know about that. They are the same as the Advanced Vidid, but a level 3 whitening instead of a level 2. Level 3 is as high of a whitening agent you can get OTC. I may try these next time! They are to be used once a day for 20 days and they run about $55 dollars.

So... here is my before picture...

I've used them consistently, but I'm only on my third day so I will do an update after 7 days and again after 14 =)

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 14, 15, & 16

0
Hey everyone! I'm sorry I've been MIA for the past three days - I had a very crazy weekend and then lots going on at school today. I have one huge history test tonight, then I can breathe again! But, I wanted to update everyone on the past three days, give a general update, and a picture. Sunday was Easter and it ended up being a cheat day as well haha. I didn't eat so bad, but I did eat some candy because my boyfriend made me a great Easter basket. He tried to put some better things in there like pretzels (with yogurt on them...mmm!) and little candies so that was nice.

However, I realized later that day that because of all the sugar I had gotten a headache. I think because I haven't been eating any sweets at all really aside from the occasional chocolate chips, that it caused my head to ache. Monday went better and I had intended to update then, but I had to take my car to get fixed because I busted out my foglight on Friday night. Then - I found out I had a leak somewhere and a nail in my tire. So, I spent yesterday trying to fix all of that! haha. Crazy stuff.

Anyway! Because I waited, I can't remember what I ate on Monday so I'll start with yesterday:
Breakfast -
1/2 cup of Go Lean Kashi cereal with 1/2 cup skim milk - 110 calories

Lunch -
Turkey sub with lettuce and tomato and about five fries - unsure... I went somewhere other than Subway, but I am guessing around 250-300 calories

Dinner -
Special K Strawberry Protein Bar - 170 calories

Overall, I have continued to feel good this week. However, with two Cheat Days I did feel a little sluggish on Sunday after the candy situation and slept for about five hours during the day =O So... I think I will be moderate next time I decide I want some chocolate.

I weighed this morning and I will put that as the weigh in weight for this week. I am now at 140.5lbs!!! Yay! The most difference I can tell is in my pants... great feeling! However, I have not been working out so I really need to do that to tone up up and shape up more. Again, I'm sorry about the delay! Today's update will go up later tonight :)

These picture updates couldn't be more unflattering. I've been positioning my camera across the room and it shoots me from an up angle, so it's just not attractive at all and makes me look bigger but you'll get the general idea. I do not have the same outfit on from the first one, fyi.

Well - til next time! :) Here's to day 17!

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 13

0
Today was another fail... what is WRONG with me?! haha. At least I am not overeating... Right? Another busy day with sleeping late and too much going on. Here's the breakdown:

Breakfast -
1/2 cup of Go Lean Kashi with 1/2 cup Skim Milk - around 100 calories

Lunch/Dinner -
Okay - I am going to have to check the name of these again, but it's something by Nature's Own. It's like a flat, multi grain bun... it's weird, but very good and only 100 calories for two pieces. I toasted mine and put homemade egg/tuna salad on it - with tomatoes! I loooove tomatoes! :) Not sure on the calorie count, but Mom did put mayo in the egg salad, so it probably wasn't on the skimpy side.

Drinks -
Unsweetened tea with Splenda - 0 Calories
Lots of water!

I'm sure I'll make up for it tomorrow! Weeks review and weight/picture update coming on Monday!

Tomorrow is Easter... He is Risen!!

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 12 - Cheat Day!

0
Sorry this is late... Long day! I can never, ever do what I did on Thursday again... I got so caught up with busy stuff on Thursday I only got to eat one real meal and I paid for it yesterday. I didn't sleep hardly at all and had severe stomach cramps. It definitely was not intentional, but I will have to make a conscious effort on those crazy days to make sure I get all of my meals in. Anyway, yesterday turned into a Cheat Day. Now, there is a strong possibility tomorrow will be a Cheat Day as well, but I will just have to eat small portions and not over do things. So - here is the breakdown for Day 12, Friday the 2nd.

Breakfast -
1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean with 1/2 cup Skim Milk - wasn't able to eat it all - around 100 calories

Lunch -
Chicken sandwich on wheat bread with mustard - 140 calories
1 Serving of Goldfish crackers - 150 calories

Dinner -
1 Leanie on a whole wheat bun - 180 calories

Then, my boyfriend surprised me! I had to work all day, so he brought his little grill and some steaks! How sweet was that. I was just at the shop in case we needed extra help, so I was able to go outside and eat - it was really sweet. I ate a nice sized one, but it was pretty lean. The only thing on it was a seasoning. So - I'm not really sure of the calorie count, but I hope it wasn't too bad.

The next thing we did was bad though, haha... We got some ice cream and that probably totaled to somewhere between 300-400 calories. But, today I am back on the wagon, so to speak :) I'll have today's update up later!

Have a BEAUTIFUL Saturday!

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 11

0
FAIL! haha... today was worse than yesterday, in terms of eating anyway. I got my highlights this morning, which I am loving and will post a picture of soon! Also, I got my car checked out from where I knocked the foglight out and they said it wasn't as bad as I thought. The whole component + labor is only going to be $200. That's still a lot of money, but with the kind of car I have, that's one of the cheaper fixes. -sigh- Anyway! I think I found THE perfect hot pink for summer! It's Nina's Nails Punkie Pink. Unfortunately, my friend saw it before me and it was the last bottle. haha. I'll have to go back next week and hopefully the store will have more =) Can't wait to use it!

On to the eating... Well, I only made it to two meals today. I completely forgot to eat before six and it was 7:30pm before I realized my mistake. I'm doing fine though, just craving some pizza reeeeeeally bad. So... here's the breakdown...

Breakfast -
1/2 cup of Kashi cereal with some skim milk - around 150 calories

Lunch -
I ordered a hibachi chicken lunch... it was a small serving of hibachi chicken, fried rice, grilled veggies, a clear mushroom soup, and a side salad with dressing. I'm unsure of the calories on this, but other than the rice and dressing I think it wasn't too bad.

Aaand... that was it! haha. I will be better tomorrow, hopefully!

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 10

0
Today was my long day at school and it has not been a good one. Was at school at 11, then left for lunch at 2, came back at 3, left at 4:30 and came back from 5:30-9pm. If that wasn't long enough, I busted out my foglight on my car. I hit a pothole in our parking lot behind our store and hit the sidewalk and it had lowered my car just enough for the sidewalk to take out my foglight. I suspect this will be a several hundred dollar job... Very sad tonight. But, it could have been worse, so I am thankful that it was just a "minor" thing. Here's the breakdown for my meals today... Didn't do so well...

Breakfast -
None

Lunch -
Moe's Moo Moo Mr. Cow with lettuce, tomato, rice, and black beans
Side of chips
2 servings of salsa
Total - 613 calories

Dinner -
Chicken on whole wheat with mustard - 140 calories

Total calories for the day: 753 calories

I honestly felt like stuffing my face with Taco Bell after the foglight incident, but I resisted... Praying tomorrow is better!

Whew! 50 posts and Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim Day 9

2
La la la la! I am very happy today =) I was running low and out on some essential beauty goodies, so I drove an hour to my nearest and dearest Sephora and picked up my lovelies. I got a new NARS pressed powder, a new Too Faced Tanning Bed in a Tube, a small Smashbox Photofinish Primer (ON SALE FOR $9!!!!!), and a new Philosophy Falling in Love perfume... smells so so delicious!

I'm also getting highlights Thursday, so I'm excited about that as well! =)

Anyway... on to the breakdown...

Breakfast -
Special K Dark Chocolate Protein Bar - 170 calories

Lunch -
Chick-fil-a Side salad - 60 calories
1/2 packet of Buttermilk Ranch dressing (so good!) - 150 calories
Chick-fil-a Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich - 300 calories

Dinner -
1 Leanie on a whole wheat bun - 180 calories

Drinks -
Unsweetened Tea with 5 packets of Splenda lol - 0 calories
Sobe Lifewater Black and Blueberry - 0 calories
Lots of water!

Total calories - 860 calories

I should edit this to say that the more I've been reading, the more I realize I'm not eating enough calories in a day. Realistically, I should be eating around 1400 to lose 1 lb per week. I am going to try to beef it up some more - I don't want to go into a starvation mode and end up gaining more weight! So - that's that =)

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Week 2, Day 8

4
Today marks the official 1 Week mark of my journey to losing around 25-30 lbs. I weighed this morning and I was at 144, which is about 4 lbs down from what I started from at 148. The week started off high, had a dip around Wednesday, then smooth sailing into this 2nd week. I will be VERY excited to see what happens at the end of this week! I am trying to decide what I want to do about Cheat Day. The boyfriend is off on Friday night, but Easter Sunday is this weekend. So - I may either eat later on Friday, but healthy or eat late and whatever I want, and try to be better on Easter. I'm not sure what our plans our yet, so it's hard for me to come to a solid decision.

I have noticed several changes - I am not as lethargic, I don't feel "depressed" (I use this term lightly - I was feeling very bad about myself before last week), my clothes are fitting a little better, and I am more concentrated during the day. All of the changes have been small ones, but they have made a lot of difference!

For my progress picture - I will update it once a week, wearing the same outfit so I (and any readers) will be able to see my progress. So, here is my progress picture for Week 2, day 8

And, here is my breakdown for today:

Breakfast -
Tall Skinny Caramel Latte - 122 calories

Snack -
Special K Dark Chocolate Protein Bar - 170 calories

Lunch -
A chicken sandwich on whole grain bread with mustard - 140 calories
1 serving of Goldfish - 150 calories

Dinner -
1 Leanie on a whole wheat bun with mustard- 180 calories

Dessert -
5.5 oz cup of frozen yogurt with about four raspberries and a tiny sprinkle of dark chocolate chips - around 140 calories

Drinks -
Sobe Lifewater Strawberry Dragonfruit - 0 calories

Total - 902 calories

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 7

0
Well - this update comes very early in the day! I ate my dinner already and no eating past six, so might as well, right? :) I broke out of my Subway mold - finally! Today was the last day for their $5 foot longs and I decided to resist the temptation to go easy and get one. I did skip breakfast, because I was running late to church and forgot. Anyway - here's the short breakdown...

Lunch -
1 Leanie dog + 1 whole wheat hot dog bun = 180 calories! Just as good, if not better, than a regular hot dog
1 serving of Goldfish - 140 calories

Dinner -
Now, I was really disappointed with this :( I wanted to try a Lean Cuisine and I guess I got the wrong thing, because I was not impressed. I got the Chicken Enchilada Suiza and it was not good :( The rice was good, but the enchilada was in this sour cream sauce that was really sweet and I am not a fan of sweet food. Also, the chicken was EXTREMELY bland - like it had the consistency of baby food. So - didn't luck out with that one, but I'll try another one... This dinner entree had 280 calories

Dessert -
6 oz. of frozen yogurt with 1/2 scoop of chocolate chips - around 160 calories

Total calories -
That brings me to about 760 calories which is not healthy, but I find that I'm not hungry so why push it? I need to beef up my fruits and vegetables for sure.

Complete update tomorrow, including a picture and a weight update!

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 6 - CHEAT DAY!

0
Sooooo, finally... Cheat Day!! It was marvelous and long awaited! I think I did all right and didn't go completely crazy :)

Here's the breakdown:

Breakfast/Lunch -
4oz cup of frozen yogurt with one, small scoop of dark chocolate chips

Dinner -
We went to a very nice, Italian restaurant and I had a lasagna entree, some bread, and sweet tea. Now, they didn't have regular, mixed sweet tea so I got unsweetened tea and added Splenda. I'm not a big Splenda fan, but I think this worked out better because otherwise I would have drunk a lot of calories if they had mixed their own sweet tea with real sugar. That made me feel a little better!

Dessert -
A regular sized almond latte
half a slice of Tiramisu

Okay, so I wasn't an angel, but I could have been a lot worse! haha Tomorrow it's back to the grind! Monday will bring a weight update, a picture, and a general overview of the week and the differences I've noticed!

Friday, March 26, 2010

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 5

0
Today - oh today has been LONG! I came to work tonight at six and it was busy from the time I got here until we closed at 10pm. Whew - and there were three of us here! Crazy times. Anyway - I changed my meals up a little bit today!

Here's the breakdown:
Breakfast -
1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean with 1/2 milk
One egg, pinch of mozzarella - nuked
One Leanie dog - nuked

This was a really good breakfast! It was almost like sausage and eggs hehe. I really loved the Leanie... To me, it had a lot more flavor than a regular hot dog, it was more dense, and filled me up more. It wasn't squishy like normal hot dogs - it had some substance to it and a bit of a smokey flavor. I highly recommend them!

Lunch/Dinner-
I combined these two... I got a Zaxby's Grilled Chicken Zalad, sans bacon and croutons (the thing that make the calories sky rocket) I ate it with 1 packet of Caesar dressing... Thing is, I didn't finish the whole thing. It filled me up really quickly.

I think I kind of failed of eating enough today, haha, but if I'm not hungry I'm not forcing myself to eat. However, tomorrow is... CHEAT DAY! My boyfriend has informed me that since I have been eating less and not late, I will not be able to finish my food. I normally don't anyways, but now it's going to be like two bites ... so he thinks. I told him I will show him differently hehe. Can't wait! Of course, I will blog about that too so no one thinks I dined on Oreos and bon bons all day =)

Here's to day SIX!!! Woo hoo!

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 4

5
Well - today has been much easier! It probably helped that I actually got to sleep in today - whew that was niiice! I haven't felt very hungry today. Unfortunately, I slacked off on my exercising yesterday. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are always my longest days at school, so sometimes it's hard to fit it in. I haven't exercised yet today, but I will tonight when I get home from work around 11:30pm. I had great plans for lunch today to change it up, but alas that was not to be. I went to the grocery store last night and got a package of Leanies... You might say, what are leanies? Well, Leanies are vegetarian hot dogs! Each hot dog has about 100 calories in it... I haven't eaten one yet, but they look pretty yummy! I'm excited to try them =)

Anyway - on to the breakdown!

Breakfast -
1/4 cup Kashi Go Lean with 1/4 cup of skim milk
1 organic egg with a pinch of mozzarella, nuked

Lunch -
1 Special K Dark Chocolate Protein Bar

Dinner -
Subway footlong ham/turkey with lettuce, tomato, one strip of light mayo, and vinegar - however, I didn't finish it all

Drinks -
Water

I'm very very very much looking forward to cheat day! haha. Now, when I did this five years ago, I didn't take a cheat day, but I also didn't have a boyfriend who took me out to very nice, yummy restaurants. So - once a week, I will allow myself a day off to NOT go crazy, but to eat whatever I deem appropriate and to eat past six o' clock. We're going to a nice little romantic Itlain restaurant on Saturday night. I'm looking forward to my favorite thing - pasta, bread, and sweet tea! Helllooooo hips! hehe

Well - here's to day 5!

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I got a formspring!! Yay! I just think it's fun haha...

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 3

0
Well, I'm halfway through the first week! Today's been a little harder :( I'm having stomach pangs pretty bad tonight. I have night classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and last night I was okay, but tonight has been hard. I'd love to drive through Taco Bell right now and get something warm, but then I know I would feel bad, so I'll just drink more water. I've gotten so used to eating late at night that going back to not eating past 6/7 is a little bit difficult. It gets so much easier though as time goes by! :) Anyway, here is a breakdown of today:

Breakfast -
Around 1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean with 1/2 cup of milk
One organic egg with a pinch of mozzarella cheese on top, popped into the microwave for a minute and a half

Lunch -
Special K Dark Chocolate Protein Bar

Dinner -
Footlong Turkey and Ham on wheat with lettuce, tomato, a little light mayo (when I say a little, I mean a thin stream one time across it) and vinegar
1 serving of Annie's organic cheddar bunnies

Drinks -
Lots of water!!

Here's to day 4!

Miss Vintage Vogue Goes Slim - Day 2

0
Well, today went great! Last night was extremely tummy rumbly, but that'll pass. I've been drinking a lot of water, and that's what helps with the rumbles and any stomach hunger. Most of the time we think we're hungry, we just need to drink some water. I find this especially true when I'm watching tv and want something to munch on... example - LOST Tuesdays. I've been making it a habit to order a small cheese pizza and down the whole thing during the LOST episode. This is why Patty has muffin tops lol. So, I am here watching LOST (writing during commercials) and downing a think of ice cold water. Yum! haha So, today's breakdown:

Breakfast
One cup of Kashi Go Lean cereal with half of a cup of skim milk

Lunch
Special K Double Chocolate Protein Bar

Dinner
Footlong turkey sub on whole wheat with lettuce, tomato, light mayo, oil and vinegar
1 Serving of Annie's Cheddar Bunnies

Drinks:
Water and SmartWater Revive

Exercise:
1 hour of walking (about 2 miles, maybe a little more)
20 mins Pilates Maximum Burn (I also did this last night after my post)

As far as beauty news, I am getting my hair highlighted tomorrow. excited!

Here's to day 3...!

EOTD and Zebra Nails

0
Today's eye look is MAC Cranberry all over the lid, MAC Handwritten in the crease, and MAC Phloof! in the inner corner. CoverGirl Eyeliner in Espresso and L'Oreal Carbon Black Voluminous Mascara

Safari nails again haha... I used Sally Hansen's Xtreme White Out and KONAD black polish

Day 1 - Miss Vogue goes slim

4
Well... I have decided that I have left myself go long enough haha. About four years ago, I was 21 and 118 llbs. Today, I am 25 and at 150 lbs. WOW! It hurts just to write that. When you look at me, I don't look like I weigh that much, but unfortunately (like most women) I carry it in my butt and thighs. I don't have huge saddle bags, but I am definitely plumper in that area than I have been. I can't blame, "I went through puberty" or "I had a kid" or, or, or the other hundred reasons I could produce. The only person or thing I can blame is myself.

Four years ago, I exercised every day... Pilates about 7 days a week and walking a couple miles almost 7 days a week. I drank only water and ate relatively healthy. I also did not eat past six o' clock. Today I don't do my Pilates at all except a couple times a month, drink sweet tea like it's going out of style and the occasional Sprite. I eat almost every day past six o' clock and often late into the night. I have got to stop! My sleep has been affected, my clothes have been affected, I feel bad about myself, I feel gross and lethargic. I don't enjoy having muffin tops in my cute jeans... I refuse to buy bigger sizes in pants so I am rotating between about five pairs of pants. I'm just being completely honest. I need some sort of accountability and I think this is a great place to share my daily plan and tips and how my progress is going - because everyone struggles at some time or another with body issues. Not only do I not feel good about myself, I am not healthy! I will post every day what exercise I have done, my eating, and weekly I will be posting body stats.

So... Today is Monday, March 22nd and today is Day 1
Breakfast - Nonfat Grande Toffee Nut Latte - around 170 cals
Midday snack - Special K Double Chocolate Protein Bar (these are SO GOOD! I ate this at 12 and didn't start feeling hungry until about 4pm) 190 calories
Lunch - haven't gotten a chance to eat that yet, haha... I'm going to get a 6" turkey Subway on wheat with lettuce, tomato, light mayo, and mustard. I'm not really sure on the calorie count of this, I'll have to check. Also, instead of chips I will be eating Annie's Cheddar Bunnies, which for about 30 bunnies is a little over a hundred cals.

I'll be eating my lunch so late, I'll probably count that as dinner as well. I know this is bad, but that's what I am going to do today. Tomorrow I will be better :)

As far as exercise... I am taking a Fitness class at school so that is kind of helping me get back into the swing of things. Today I worked out for an hour. Here is the breakdown:
Elliptical - 15 minutes
Bike - 15 minutes
Treadmill - 15 minutes
Rowing machine - 15 minutes

I like to mix it up! haha

This is just my story and my plan - I'm not a doctor or any of that stuff... I hope some of you will join me or just follow along. Yay!

This is me in 2005... I will take an updated, similar shot within the next week... I'll do weekly progress shots as well...

Sparkly Bows and Rabbit Cakes

0
I gave myself a new pedicure yesterday... not digging it as much as the black with white flowers, but live and learn! I'll probably change it within the next day or two...

OPI Koala Berry, KONAD White with plate M59, and a sparkly top coat... I think it's Sally Hansen

And, this has no relevance to nails or beauty, but I wanted to share it anyway :) I made a Spring/Easter cake at our shop tonight... I'm so please it turned out as cute as it did... makes me so excited about warmer weather!!

Is a zebra white with black stripes or black with white stripes? THAT is the question!

4
Well - in my world, they are white with black stripes! :)
I used OPI Strawberry Margarita and Sally Hansen Xtreme White Out for the colors - the stripes are made with KONAD plate m69 and KONAD Black polish

Week 1 of Dr. Brandt's Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner

0

As I sit here with Dr. Brandt's Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner on my face, I was reminded that I said I would do a week by week update on how the product was working. I bought it last month, but have just now got around to using it regularly. The Vacuum Cleaner is a gel treatment that is to be used 2-3 times per week, or as needed. The goal of the Vacuum Cleaner is to suck out blackheads and get rid of excess oil.

It has ingredients such as alpha and beta hydroxl acids and eijitsu rose for pore clarification. It contains no parabens, sulfates, or synthetic fragrances/dyes. The product only takes a couple of minutes to work... about 5-10, but I've been leaving it on a little longer. You apply the gel to your affected areas and it will turn light blue when it's dry - that's the sign it's time to rinse it off.

Tonight is the start of week 2, so here is what I think about week 1 - I really like the product thus far and I can see a noticeable shrinkage in my pores. Did it magically suck the dirt out the first go around? No, of course not. But, over the past week I have noticed my pores are smaller and have not been holding oil as much. The areas I apply the product are on my forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin... my T-Zone. It also leaves my skin much smoother!

As always - I bought this product with my own money and this is what I truly think about it. So - here's to week two! :)

Rawr!

Recent nail

2
These are a few of the nail looks I've had over the past few weeks... I did a new KONAD design last night so I'll try to get a picture of that up tomorrow. I've misplaced my scraper somewhere so it's kind of a pain in the butt using my KONAD stuff right now. BOO!

Whoa!

2
So, it's been over a month since I've posted a blog... what is WRONG with me! Well, first of all... school started back and at first it wasn't so bad, but right now it is kicking my butt. A rundown of my classes are as follows: Clay I, New Testament Survey, French I, World Civilization II, and Fitness I. Okay - you'd think a CLAY class would be pretty easy, right? WRONG. I've spent a majority of my time working in the art studio stressing over... POTS! Crazy, huh? And, New Testament I thought would be easy, but it's not - it's my hardest class and I am not enjoying it right now. Our business is also picking up since the spring and summer months are our busiest, so I've been at our shop a lot working and being in the office and cleaning and jazz like that.

However...! This week is Spring Break and while I have some fun things planned for myself, I am also going to try to do several videos! And, hopefully now that I am over the seven week hump I can get my act together and keep on top of my work haha. So - this is just a check in and a word to say watch out because I have some new things coming!

OH! Exciting news!... I am the proud new owner of a Nikon D3000! I had some money saved up and have been wanting a DSLR camera forever and I was able to get a great deal at Sam's Club. Very excited about that!

I will leave you with a few pictures... the two pots I'm working on and my favorite picture I've taken with my camera... so far! ;)

LUSH and Aveda Spa Review

3
Wow, wow, wow... where have I been?! Well, since my last post, I got a stomach virus and school started back so I have been somewhere between running around like a chicken with her head cut off, puking, and lying around like a lazy cow. But... I am back! I am going to try to get a video up on YouTube much more frequently, and update my blog more frequently.

First up - my LUSH giveaway contest ends in three and a half hours and I am so excited to see who wins! This has been really fun and I can't wait to do another giveaway!

On to the good stuff - I only got two things for myself when I went to LUSH... why? Mainly because everything, besides these two products, I wanted, they were stinking out of. The main LUSH store at Lenox was closed due to some stupid mall outage, so I went to the one inside of Macy's which is significantly smaller and didn't have as much stuff. Sad day!

The first product I got was the Flosty Gritter Bubble Bar, which I was VERY excited to try!

I've used this bubble bar twice, and have enough for two more baths, so I think that's a pretty good amount of baths for the price. I was a little disappointed that I didn't come out of the bath covered in glitter, but that's okay! The bubbles are sparkly so you really feel like a princess! The smell is a vanilla/lavender aroma and it's featured ingredient is Clary Sage. Clay Sage is useful in alleviating stress, exhaustion, and to alleviate different types of pain. I really do feel more relaxed after taking a Flosty Gritter bath... aaaah!

The second bubble bar I got was The Comforter Bubble Bar

The Comforter is a pretty good sized bar that I would say you would be able to get about five baths out of... depends on how you break it up. You can break up bigger chunks under the water, or smaller ones. It turns the water a nice, light pink shade and smells so, so amazing! It has a blackcurrant smell - it's very upbeat and fruity.

So, if you follow me on Twitter, I mentioned that I was going to get a Hydrotherm Massage from my local Aveda Spa. I've had their regular massages and the hot stone therapy massage, but I wanted to try the Hydrotherm because it sounded really cool. You lie face up for the entire, hour long massage while lying on a heated, water filled pad. Like a waterbed - but better! Your massage therapist massages you using the pressure of your own body and the movement of the water filled cushions to alleviate pain and stress.

My massage girl told me most people leave the heavy comforter off and just stay covered with the thin sheet and leave their undergarments on. It's really your preference. I don't like having any clothes on during a massage, but that's my preference. However, for this one since I was going to be lying face up the whole time I just took her suggestion and left my undergarments on. I - was - ROASTING! The water cushions are covered by a thin, silk like material and I found the temperature of the water to be a little too warm. I would suggest asking your spa about this and if you feel like you may be too hot, let them know you would like it a little cooler. The only place it was uncomfortable was on my lower legs, but that went away as the time went on. Overall, I liked the massage and I definitely liked it better than the hot stone therapy massage. It is a little different lying face up - you really get no back massage which is my favorite part, because I have some back issues. However, if you are pregnant, have been in an accident and it's painful to lie face down or turn over, or older, I think this is a wonderful alternative! If I had to describe it in one word, I would say - relaxing! Would I do it again? Maybe, but I prefer a more intense massage that can really concentrate on the pain in my back and work out the kinks. Lying on the water cushion is really heavenly as you're just floating, so to speak, and enjoying the massage. If you have any other questions, let me know!

I'm including a picture I found off of the internet... The water cushion pictured here is not covered, but mine was... I think it might be uncomfortable lying straight on the cushion - not to mention unsanitary!

MAC Eyeshadow Haul

0
So, I went to Atlanta last week and decided to try some MAC eyeshadows. i've used Bare Escentuals' eyeshadows for the past five years and I love them. They can be messy sometimes and that's about my only complaint. However, I have heard so much about MAC eyeshadows and their colors are so beautiful, I wanted to give them a try. I'm really happy with my choices - I've tried all of them so far and love every single one of them. I love the pigmentation, the no mess, the ease of applying and blending, and the staying power! With my mineral shadows, they would not last all day, but the MAC shadows do and that's a use plus for me! So, without further ado...

1. Mythology

I heard about lots of fallout with this one, but I didn't experience it. I think I need a denser brush to pick up more product though. This color is AMAZING! It's really unique and definitely makes your eyes stand out. Gorgeous.

2. Satin Taupe

This is a really pretty, shimmering taupe color - almost like a mushroom brown. I've used it for an all over lid color so far, but I can't wait to experiment with it more. It's a color that I think anyone could wear.

3. Corduroy

I got this instead of Handwritten, which is what I really wanted but both MAC stores I went to were out. It's a very nice, matte, neutral brown shade. You can apply it lightly or build it up for more intensity.

4. Phloof!

I knew I'd love this color... It's a wonderful base color as well as a highlighter for the brow bone and inner corner. I like that you can apply it under/over another color and it will give it a nice sheen. GORGEOUS!

So far, I love, love, love the MAC eyeshadows and of course, can't wait to buy more! I really like the price as well... of course $14 is expensive for eyeshadow, but that's what my mineral shadow costs so it's not like it's $25 like a NARS shadow. I'm curious to see how long these will last me... That'll be the true test - how often you have to repurchase.

Eye of the Day:

I was drawn back to the Kohl's line up makeup, Flirt! and checked out their eyeshadows... they have a unique type of shadows that are a mousse... very cool! I LOVE the texture... so creamy, very blendable, long wearing, doesn't smudge - they have great colors! I picked out High Maintenance to test out the product. It's a deep purple with flecks of shimmer. You can layer these mousse shadows to be either a light eye look or very dramatic.

I used Bare Escentuals Nude Beach from lid to brow bone, Bare Escentuals' Queen Tiffany on the lid, up to the crease, and I foiled it. Foiling is a technique used with powder shadows - you wet the brush, dip it into the minerals, and apply - this gives a foiled, intense color. I then applied High Maintenance in the crease and blended it.

These retail for $12 each - I might go back and purchase some more, but I want to try out some MAC shadows when I go to Atlanta on Tuesday. Anyone have any good color recommendations?

Beautiful Blogger Award

3
Brooke at Babbling Brooke tagged me for the Beautiful Blogger Award, along with some other wonderful bloggers out there. Thanks, Brooke :) You should definitely go check out Brooke's blog for some gorgeous KONAD designs and tips... She's one of the best!

This is really exciting for me, because I've only been doing this for a little less than two months and still very green, but I enjoy it and it's a very fun hobby! I'm meeting lots of fellow makeup, nail, fashion, etc. gurus like myself! Part of being tagged for the Beautiful Blogger Award is to list 7 facts about yourself. So - here goes!

1. I was heavy into ballet dancing for about eight years, but stopped before I hit my teens.

2. I grew up wanting to be a writer, but when my dog died from cancer in 2008 I decided I would follow that dream lots of little girls have when they're growing up and become a veterinarian. I started volunteering and working at an animal hospital, but once I took the first round of science classes I knew this was not for me. It didn't make me happy like I thought and I was crying/stressed to the max. So, now I am back on the path to becoming a writer and could not be happier!! Best time of my life!

3. I can cross one eye in toward my nose and move the other eye around - freaky, but true hehe

4. My parents have owned their own business for 25 years and I have worked there practically since birth. It's not always easy working with family, but we make it fun and it's the best job to have while I'm still in college. Love it and them.

5. I was a child model for about five minutes - I participated in a children's clothing fashion show at a Parisians store way back in the day.

6. I want to live abroad one day and travel from place to place - perhaps living in a city for a month before traveling on to the next

7. I'm one of the biggest classic movie junkies you will ever meet! I LOVE old movies, especially black and whites from the 1940's. I love them all! That's a lot of what I watch on a regular basis. I love Katharine Hepburn, Cary Grant, Carole Lombard, Humphrey Bogart... on and on. ♥

Part of this lovely tag is that I am to tag some other beautiful bloggers... and my tag choices are...

Laura at Lollipop26 - She was, I think, one of the first people on YouTube I watched that inspired me to start making my own videos... She comes across as very relatable and not at all pretentious - I love reading her blog!

Janice at Swtest2Lips - She has a lovely blog full of makeup experiments, reviews, and of course, lots of beautiful KONAD designs!

BabyD at Polish and Powder - She's a newbie like me, but has some beautiful KONAD designs and makeup posts!

COACH Purse for Sale

1
Okay - I'm not going to make a habit of this, mainly because I don't have any other Coach purses I'm planning on parting with anytime soon :-P I have a Coach Small Soho Signature Flap for sale... It's not listed on eBay right now, because I wanted to see if I could just sell it privately. If no one I know or on here wants it, that's probably going to be next. I bought it at Dillard's about two years ago and just haven't carried it that much. It's a beautiful, classic purse and would be good for someone who is new to Coach. I would like $150 for it, but I am willing to haggle, so to speak ;-) Anyway - feel free to pass this information around... I would like her to go to a loving home :-) She's in mint condition with no stains, rips, holes, etc.

Front view:

Small scuff on the flap: - barely noticeable in real life though

Small nick on the backside of the strap:

Back view: This picture makes her look dirty, but it's the stitching and how it reflects to the camera

Inside:

And, most importantly, the creed:

Let me know if you would like to see any more!

Argyle Dreams

3
After my last KONAD design, I wanted to try something lighter. I polished my nails with Essie's Mint Candy Apple - I am LOVING this color! It's such a milky, mint green/pale blue - it's gorgeous. I've been wanting to try the argyle pattern on plate m60 with the KONAD special white polish. It was definitely one of the more challenging designs because the polish doesn't seem to completely coat each diamond, thus leaving some of them lighter than others. I would be cautious if you decided to scrape the design more than once, because this can drag the polish from the filled in diamonds to the diamonds that are supposed to be empty. Try to do one, even scrape - then scrape.

It's 2010!!

0
I hope everyone had a lovely New Years Eve and day! I had a big party I was planning on attending, but I started feeling yucky so I decided to put on sweats, put my hair into a ponytail, and hang out with my fam. However - I did put some of that Sally's platinum glitter in my hair to make myself feel somewhat festive!

I've put up several new videos over the past week, so check 'em out! One of my most recent is a review about Flirt! Cosmetics lipsticks... I just happened upon these when I was shopping in Kohls one day. Here are the pictures from the review...

Are they perfect? No. But, I really do like them a lot and they satisfy my want for a nudey color alongside my NARS Greek Holiday until I find something better.

I did an experiment that I documented in my latest YouTube video that tests out the difference between using regular nail polish to use as a stamping color with the KONAD system, versus the KONAD special polish. I used the regular brand that is most often recommended as a substitute, which is Sally Hansen's XTreme black and white colors.

Before - Sally Hansen Xtreme Black Out and Sally
